Having the system installed by an unlicensed contractor could cost you its warranty. A poor installation often results in poor equipment performance, more frequent breakdowns, and most importantly, less safety.Even if you don’t choose the brands they sell, look for a contractor who is a factory-authorized dealer for name branded HVAC equipment. They’ve met the rigorous criteria for installation and servicing that prominent manufacturers require.
- Thermostat position doesn’t matter. The HVAC technician needs to explore your home before placing the thermostat. It controls when and how long your system runs. It should be away from sunlight, drafts and cooler or warmer areas.
- Keeping the temperature the same day and night saves money. It’s a fact that adjusting the thermostat at night and when your home isn’t occupied saves energy and money, especially if you use a programmable thermostat.
